Beach House's New Song "Lemon Glow" Is a Creepy Kind of Calm

The duo are back for 2018, with an as-yet-untitled album due in the Spring.

My major takeaway from the new Beach House track "Lemon Glow" is that it made me feel extremely relaxed, but also compelled to check that something wasn't sneaking up behind me. A little more foreboding than we're used to from the beloved dream-pop pair, "Lemon Glow" has a hint of the sinister about it, and that makes for a great new twist on their sound.

That's not to say that the usual Beach House markers aren't around (even the track name "Lemon Glow" is Extremely Beach House): their overwhelming sense of stillness remains present, as Victoria Legrand's voice glides through layers of synth, which feel just a little more opaque this time around. The song, happily, is the first from a brand new, as yet-untitled album "due later this Spring," according to a new Instagram post from the band, which you can see below. All of which is to say: three cheers for a summer of falling asleep in the sun and looking out of windows with a feeling of ennui, all to a soundtrack of brand new Beach House. Hear "Lemon Glow" above. Maybe take a lie down.
