Edwyn Collins is one of the best guys of all time so when we heard he was showing work at Smithfields Gallery turning up was a no brainer. Edwyn suffered a double brain hemorrhage in 2005 and drawing was one means of rehabilitating himself back to health…All of the drawings were of birds. The work was apparently inspired byThe History Of British Birdswhich Edwyn read obsessively during his recovery.Considering what he's been through Edwyn was looking happy and pretty dapper on the night. Our Editor Andy Capper liked this one so much that he bought it.You could see Edwin's style developing and changing over time thanks to the big swoopy date arrows that were daubed on the gallery walls. It was pretty touching stuff for a Wednesday night. Here is the photographer Neil Thomson. He likes Edwyn more than just about anyone we know.Andy liked the first picture that he bought so much that he bought this one too so that the first one wouldn't get lonely.People even bought gifts. It was just that kind of night.PHOTOS BY JONNIE CRAIG
