NEW YORK - FAREWELL FRIEND

It is with profound sadness that we must report the death of an inspirational and prominent figure in the past two decades of our nation's life. Our friends Angela and Adam DiCarlo's cat Cybil passed away on Sunday. Cybil was 22 years old. That's about as old as a cat can get. She was so old she looked like that Chinese guy who sells Gizmo to Hoyt Axton at the beginning of Gremlins

She felt very bony and had only the slightest suggestion of a face. She also had no tail for some reason, but up until the end she remained a very stately and dignified cat. She spent a great deal of her time sitting in regal stillness, even if you put something silly on her head. We left that pumpkin in the picture on her head for about an hour. I think she was simply above even trying to shake it off.

Angela and Adam were in Florida when it happened. Their trusted catsitter Erika was there and noticed that Cybil wasn't doing so great. Writes Angela: "Cybil craggle-mewed for her Whiska's Cat Milk (many of you have witnessed this demand), drank her cat milk, and five minutes later while Erika was holding her on her lap, quietly passed away. We are devastated that this happened while we were away, but we are happy that she died peacefully in her own home and that she wasn't alone. She had a great full life of 22 years and many of you were a part of her life and we are so happy she was a part of ours. She will be missed." I'm sure she will be in all of your cat-prayers as she will be in ours. Now go have yourselves a good cry.
