BLACK LIPS BEAT THEIR MEAT

When the Black Lips asked Mark Ronson to produce their new record we assumed the resulting "studio time" would be like a combination of John Lennon's lost weekend and that scene from Get Him to the Greek where they all smoke the Jeffrey, only with less getting-shit-done and more tampon-on-the-forehead jokes.

So it's a relief to see evidence of them hard at work, nailing down the rhythm section to one of their new songs and not just fucking around with a bunch of meat on the porch.

Here's Mark and Cole Alexander (guitar, vocals, flank steak) discussing the interplay of lyrical content and sonic textures of "Raw Meat." Update: Click the picture to watch it.

(Sorry it's a link to a facebook page. We've been trying to embed the video for like an hour but nothing doing. If anybody knows how to do it please give us a shout. But not an actual shout because we're a little hungover thank you.)

We're looking forward to the finished tune, as well as the one Cole talked about in the below video that's based on his feelings of disillusionment after reading the special PSA edition of Spiderman they handed out in middle school where Spiderman remembers being molested.
