Cave of Forgotten Dreams is Werner Herzog's new 3D documentary about the recently discovered Cave of Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc in the South of France. I've got to wonder if you read that last sentence all the way through since you're still reading this. Allow me to reiterate: Werner Herzog made a 3D documentary, and it's even better than you're imagining. For his film, Herzog was given rare and exclusive access to the caves. Shot with the assistance of only a tiny four person crew, the film shows the extraordinary cave paintings--dating back 32,000 years--in mesmerizing detail. And in 3D--let's not forget about the 3D part. In addition to cave paintings, the film also features a perfumer, a self-described experimental archaeologist, and two albino alligators. Jesus, why are you still reading this?
