Public domain photos get re-animated.

We’ve featured as one of our creators Mira Calix, a musician who often uses found sounds in her work. Well here’s an artist who uses found images instead. Her name is Cassandra C. Jones, and she uses collages of images either from friends, family or public domain archives which she then re-animates to create a new piece. Above is her homage to British photographer Eadweard J. Muybridge’s “Galloping Horse,” called “After Muybridge.” She sifted through thousands of stock digital images until she settled on just 12 to recreate footage of a horse galloping. Take a watch, but beware flashing images.

Jones also produces image collages like the one below, Car fire, 2010, made using 17 photos showing a car spinning while on fire. Check out her website for more.
