Take a drum & bass beat, Chicago house vocals, and a playful synth line that fits somewhere between chiptune and a 3-ring circus, and you'll have "Bye Bye" by Beatnik, ft. Tyson. The track drips with energy from the first note and by 30 seconds in, Tyson's voguing with attitude to a white background while silhouetted hula hoop girls flail. Elsewhere, a pair of bedazzled high heel shoes rotate on a turntable. All the while, Nikki and Statis of Beatnik are unmoved.
The producer/DJ duo have lent remix duties to Kelis' much celebrated album on Ninja Tune this year, and that's on top of sharing DJ duties for the likes of Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Kanye West, P.Diddy and Justin Timberlake. The über-fashionable duo spent the better part of the year DJing on the, prepare yourself, All Saints and Backstreet Boys tour. We couldn't even get tickets.
