Leicester City Stun Manchester United With Four-Goal Comeback

Manchester United shocked by Leicester

Manchester United took a 3-1 lead over Leicester City in the 57th minute on a nifty little backwards flip from Ander Herrera. Seven minutes after United regained their two-goal cushion, Leicester tied the game. By the 83rd minute, City were up 5-3.

The comeback began when City were awarded a penalty on a poor sequence for United that saw the referee ignore an obvious Leicester foul in favor of a dubious (yet stupid) Manchester United foul. Jaime Vardy clearly shoved Rafael in the back and won the ball, the referee swallowed his whistle for one second and then a pissed off Rafael regrouped and sent Vardy flying with the tiniest of shoves in the box, which was called. Vardy would play a huge role in comeback.

David Nugent hit the penalty and cut the lead to 3-2. In the 64th minute Esteban Cambiasso leveled the score with a strike through traffic from the center of the box. Vardy had a foot in this goal as well.

Vardy struck again on the decisive goal, in the 79th minute. Ritchie de Laet challenged and won the ball and Vardy took off from midfield. Vardy controlled the through ball on a fast break and hit the bottom right corner of the goal.

Leicester were up 4-3 and added a fifth in the 83rd minute when Vardy, again, drew a penalty and Leonardo Ulloa banged it in. All told, City scored 4 goals in twenty minutes and Louis van Gaal's Man U team lost to a Leicester team playing its first season in the Premier League since 2004.
