Maryn E. Coote, aka DJ-MEK (Marynel-Marju Kuut), is an Estonian-Swedish singer/songwriter/producer who got her start in 60s Soviet Union. Her musician son Uku Kuut, has been living with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, for several years. Washington DC label PPU, who also released Uku's amazing Vision of Estoniaalbum, has just released Maskeraad, a compilation of Maryn's music that includes studio recordings, out-takes, demos, and new material. The sale of the album will directly support Uku's care, and support further research on ALS.
Take a listen to some of lo fi synth funk and boogie below.
