Los Angeles Reacts to the Tragic Possibility of a Juan Uribe Trade

Memorial Day came a day late for Dodger fans this year, as news came down the wire that beloved Dodgers third baseman and civic icon Juan Uribe is on the trade block.

Flags are flying at half mast throughout the Southland as citizens attempt to cope with the possibility that Uribe will depart.

"Today the city maybe loses a hero," said Mayor Eric Garcetti in a somber news conference. "Like William Mulholland, Tom Bradley, Pio Pico, and L. Ron Hubbard, Juan Uribe's impact on Los Angeles will be indelible."

Injured pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu, reached at the filming of a ramen commercial, was last heard sobbing through the thin walls of his trailer.

"Papi," he said. "Papi."

For now, Juan Uribe is still in Dodger blue.

But that could change at any time. And if it does, VICE Sports wants to be the first publication to say thank you, Papi. Que le vaya bien.
