With Dogboarding It Seems You Can Teach An Old Dog New Tricks

Forget skateboarding, that’s so Michael J. Fox circa 1985. Take a look at this new activity where man’s best friend becomes skating’s new trend.

Dogs are typically thought of as loyal companions, following their masters around like they were on some symbiotic leash. They also love the outdoors, frolicking down to the park to play catch, chasing small mammals, barking up the wrong trees, and jumping in ponds with great enthusiasm and boundless energy. So what if you combined their loyalty with their love for the outdoors into a new kind of “team sport” where man and canine join forces to surmount sick rails and and half pipes. Let’s call it dogboarding. And we don’t mean a skateboarding dog like Tillman from the iPhone commercial. We mean literally grabbing your canine buddy and taking him down the skate park to use as a skating device instead of that limited edition plywood board you’ve got.

Ok, ok, we’re kidding. We wouldn’t actually do that to our four-legged friends. But here’s a new video from directing duo DANIELS, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, that imagines just that. They use green screen technology and post-production skills to show us an alternate world where walkies means something entirely different. We’ve come to expect this kind of stuff from DANIELS, whose videos are usually quirky and inventive while also maintaining a sense of fun and mischievous humour, and this one is no exception. And for all the animal lovers out there, you’ll be pleased to know that the video comes with the following disclaimer: “No animals were harmed in the making of this video. Don’t harm animals, dummy.” That is a relief.
