This May Be The "Dumbest" Phone In The World

You can’t even text. Can you imagine a world without texting?!

The mobile phone market is not exactly short on models, but this phone is one that is sure to stand out among the heaps of gadgets at your local electronics store. This device strips the mobile phone of its all its bloated features into its purest, simplest form: a tool for making and receiving phone calls. That’s it. The only way it could get more simplified is by becoming two hollow cans with a piece of string attached between them. It’s called John’s Phone and is designed by John Doe Amsterdam. They explain:

We've always wondered why most affordable phone looks so dull and boring. All cell phones are great high-tech products we like to use every day. Why not spend more time in designing. It's the things we don't see that are the most essential to creating a great design. A great design is a present. Why not make yourself happy with a present everyday in your pocket.

Yeah, why not. Have a look at the slideshow above to make your judgement. Would you replace your iPhone with it? No more apps, no texts, no camera, and an address book that amounts to a pad and pen. It does, however, have a little character called Fony who appears on a paired down LCD screen to wave hello and goodbye and gets electrocuted when the phone is charging. So, what do you think, is it effortless, humble and almost Zen-like in its simplicity? Or a device more suited for the aisles of Toys “R” Us?
