Cashmere Cat, Sophie, and MØ Team Up on Loopy New Track, “9 (After Coachella)”

Such a motley crew yields an equally strange result.

Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat shared his latest track today, "9 (After Coachella)," in collaboration with London-based producer Sophie and Danish singer-songwriter MØ. It's a motley crew which yields an equally strange result: a loopy, clanging fusion of twisted pop and trap (complete with samples of dog woofs courtesy of presumably Cashmere Cat's own pair of Frenchies, who appear in the track's accompanying video) while MØ warbles longingly about a love she'll never have. Listen to it below.

There's no actual mention or even a vague allusion to Coachella in the track, but perhaps the reference is less a tribute to the festival than a clue. Could after Coachella be when Cashmere Cat's much-awaited debut album finally drops?

The crossover producer announced the project, Wild Love, back in August. Having previously worked with major artists such as Kanye West, Ariana Grande, and Britney Spears, it's no surprise that Wild Love is stuffed with high-profile collaborations. So far, he's shared the title track with Francis & the Lights; "Trust Nobody" featuring Selena Gomez and Tory Lanez; "Throw Myself a Party" featuring 2 Chainz, Tory Lanez, and Starrah; and "Love Incredible" featuring former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello. Other purported team-ups include Kehlani and Sia.
