Gluten-Free Onion Rings Recipe

The perfect, crispy side to go with burgers.
Gluten-Free Onion Rings Recipe

1 cup white rice flour
½ cup cornstarch
½ cup potato starch
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
cayenne, to taste
1 ½ cups|355 ml sparkling water
1 large white onion, thinly sliced
2 quarts|1 liter 893 ml vegetable oil


  1. In a medium bowl, mix white rice flour, potato starch, cornstarch, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  2. Whisk in the sparkling water until mixed and let the batter sit for 15 minutes.
  3. In a large saucepan, heat vegetable oil to 375°F.
  4. Dip onion rings in batter. Drop onions in oil and fry until golden, 1 ½ - 2 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately with your dip of choice.
