Upcycling is a huge trend in art these days: due to our rapidly-changing world, old junk is now an abundant source of creative fodder. This is especially true for artist Stefaan De Croock, who sees one door closing as another opening.De Croock’s series of murals capturing the hearts of passersby across Europe, Elsewhere, is comprised of murals made of discarded doors. The broken-down portals are repurposed as raw materials to build the visage of a faceless, geometric man, resulting in a vulnerable, melancholic mood.

De Croock doesn’t repaint any of the doors either, adding an emphasis to what the source material really is, and creating unique color palettes. Open the door to his work in the images below:
