Stunning Topographical Images Created From Just Three Lines

Mike Creighton's Line Topography starts from simple beginnings to generate intricate digital landscapes.

From just three simple lines artist Mike Creighton renders complex and detailed topographic landscapes. In his generative art series Line Topography he samples three horizontal scanlinesto acquire three lines to draw with explaining that, after choosing color palettes, he then uses these as a "brush" to create the basic structure of his images through a custom app created in Processing.

He defines the project as "A set of experiments created with Processing that explore how iteration and variation of a 2D line can create pseudo-3D forms." The result is abstract surfaces that defy their minimalist beginnings to become Byzantine virtual landscapes.
