The free art school that made a mission of blastinginstitutionalhypocrisy is expanding its reach to include a brand new gallery, dubbed the Bruce High Quality Foundation University Gallery (BHQFUG), or, coloquially, "FUG." It's a promising space for both existing talent and emerging artists, and even Bruce High Quality Foundation University's (BHQFU) Visiting Artist Residency Program, which supports "artists and collaborative projects from around the globe through three to six week residencies merging exhibitions, public programs, classes, and workshops," according to BHQFU.

The very first exhibition at FUG, which opened this past weekend, features LA-based painter Noah Davis and works from the art non-profit Underground Museum, paintings by Henry Taylor and Lyle Ashton Harris, and the screening of Khalil Joseph's Rodeo Rough Cut. Davis describes his works as “instances where black aesthetics and modernist aesthetics collide," exemplified in works like Bishops, which features stencils of two black men in the medieval trappings of the painting's titular clergymen.May 1, FUG will see the Guerrilla Girls Broadband's #ProvokeProtestPrevail, before hosting BHQFU Emerging Artist Residency over the summer. The inaugural exhibition, Noah Davis and The Underground Museum, will be on view April 26 every Saturday and by appointment. Check out some of the works in the show below:
