Chargers owner Dean A. Spanos announced he has decided to keep the team in San Diego for the 2016 season, in order to buy some time for a long-term stadium solution.
Spanos released a statement to the Chargers official Facebook page, stating, "This has been our home for 55 years and I want to keep the team here and provide the world-class stadium experience you deserve."
Earlier in the day, the Rams and the Chargers reached an agreement in principle to share a stadium in Inglewood, but it appears that Spanos is looking to find a way to keep the Chargers in San Diego on a more permanent basis.

According to the LA Times,
The Chargers have until Jan. 15, 2017, to exercise a one-year option to move to L.A.
The team can ask for the option be extended one year if voters approve public financing for a stadium in San Diego.
The news will warm more than a few San Diegan hearts.
