Brooklyn-based producer UMFANG today released her new album, Symbolic Use of Light, on Ninja Tune sub-label Technicolour. Stream it in full below, courtesy of Bandcamp.

Symbolic Use of Light is UMFANG's second full-length, following her 2015 debut OK. The album was recorded in live takes, using post-production "only for quick corrections," according to an official statement. As with singles "Weight" and "Where is She," Symbolic Use of Light teems with tightknit loops, resulting in a weightless sound that's somewhat softened and alienesque. "My process is really about sitting down and seeing what happens—it becomes a time-capsule of whatever works from that time period," UMFANG explained.

Earlier this year, fellow Ninja Tune artist Illum Sphere selected "Weight" as his personal "Song of the Summer," adding, "I really can't wait to see what the rest of the album is like… I love music that feels like it doesn't reveal its full self, that provides you the space to find your own way within it. This is a great example of that."
