LONDON - THE LONG WEEKEND: NAN GOLDIN

Tomorrow night at the Tate Modern there’s a Nan Goldin slideshow/performance art/music thing featuring Patrick Wolf and Joni Mitchell appropriator John Kelly. It’s part of The Long Weekend series, which centers around the State of Flux collection and features Alison Knowles making a gigantic salad for 300 people directly before Goldin’s exhibition. Anyone unfamiliar with Goldin should spend the next few hours on Google image search, discovering that any picture of a junkie or trannie or marginalized representative of "urban bohemia" from the last 30 years has drawn influence from her work. It’s ¬£20, but if you’re in the area you should definitely attend (barring it’s not already sold out, which is a strong possibility) because chances are she won’t be appearing again in the UK anytime soon.
