New York - Comedy Benefit

The whole idea of star-studded, do-goody benefit shows sits sour with most folks thanks to billionaires like Bono acting like playing a single free show makes them Albert Fucking Schweitzer. We promise this isn't going to be anything like those egostravaganzas--it's a comedy benefit this Thursday called Southward Toward Home to raise money for victims of Hurrican Katrina featuring a handful of humble, salt-of-the-earth type comics who don't know the first thing about grandstanding. David Cross will be there, as will Janeane Garofololo, Zach Galifianakis, and Eugene Mirman AND special guests either famous enough to warrant secrecy or unfamous enough not to warrant specification. Think of it as one of those fundraiser carwashes high school kids are always putting on, but with funniness in place of underage girls. You can buy advanced tickets here.
