NEW YORK - GET SOMETHING NICE FOR YOURSELF THAT HASN'T BEEN TORN TO SHREDS BY HYSTERICAL BANSHEES

It's that time of the year where everything is on sale, begging you to drop whatever cash you have on a bunch of stuff you probably don't need or maybe won't even wear but all of a sudden seems appealing because it's dirt cheap. Or relatively cheap. Take the Barneys Warehouse Sale going on in Chelsea right now: sure it may seem enticing, all of Barneys' sale items crammed into one spot on 17th Street, but honestly, the deals aren't even worth it until the last few days, and by then everything is picked over or ruined from the mongrel hordes who rip, tear, and leave foundation smears on white dresses. So gross. Just thinking about the uncouth behavior there makes me so angry. But really, is $300 a bargain for a dress, any dress? And yeah, $250 is a lot cheaper than $1,200 for a pair of boots but if you are broke, $250 equals a hell of a lot in your day-to-day life. And for the dudes the sale is even more of a bummer, you'd be hard-up to find anything under a size L or XL, and a sparkly decal tee or embesllished jeans aren't a deal at any price.

Sample sales can be just as harried and competitive as warehouse sales but often times sport equally good or better details minus the make-up and deodorant stains. Case-in-point is the Sophomore sample sale at Circa Now that starts tomorrow.

It's not Dries Van Noten but it's something that a lot of people like and even better, a lot of people can afford. For those unfamiliar with the line it's an achingly cool downtown New York label that has the Virgins and every downtown pseudo-celeb in their lookbook, something that frankly turns me off to it. In fact so many things about the line make me want to talk shit about it, but the clothes are too cute for that, and plus they have some non-embarassing menswear, which is a rarity. It's designed by Chrissie Miller who is of course pretty and skinny and probably has a way easier life than I do (or at least her at-home photographs on Refinery29 would lead me to believe that). But the clothes don't suck--especially when they are cheap. I'm talking $20 cheap.
