Front and Center at the Poop Show - SXSW: Day One

I put "poop show" in the title of this post for two reasons: 1) I don't think we can say "shit" anymore; and 2) SXSW, for me at least, seems to always center around how much I have to crap my face off the minute I exit the plane.

I put "poop show" in the title of this post for two reasons: 1) I don't think we can say shit anymore, and 2) SXSW, for me at least, seems to always center around how much I have to crap my face off almost the minute I exit the plane.

I got into Austin last night after a flight that can be nicely summed up here:

Once out of the gate, I got in a cab and went to my rented pool-side apartment—where I am sitting now, in sweatpants, after waking up today with a nasty hangover that will soon be remedied by tacos and day drinking.

As far as music goes, even though I feel watching live music is about ten percent of the reason anyone comes to this circus, I saw a super impressive set last night by Dana Falconberry at Valhalla and another one directly after hers, by a band called the Blank Tapes. I liked Dana the best out of the two, though, so I'm gonna share a video of hers with you because I think she's gonna really stand out during the week. Also, she's a really fun conversationalist, a good dancer, and my friend.

At some point, as will be the case for the rest of the week, I got drunk and for some reason kept telling everyone how Rihanna is going to have a secret show here this year. Is that even true? I hope that it is true.

Here's a picture of the leftovers from what I ate last night. Stay tuned for more barely music-related music news from day two!
