Whether it be music, film, or the mystifying occult realm that impels us to cower in terror for fear of emotional evisceration (some refer to this as "the fashion world"), you can't look anywhere without coming into contact with 2011's most conspicuously named breakout artist, Theophilus London. We were going to say that the man is like blog herpes, but no proud mamma is going to gluestick that press clipping into her scrapbook, so instead we'll say he's like glitter (which everyone knows is "the herpes of the crafts world" and is a much nicer mental image). Theo is nothing if not dangerously ambitious, but the arc of his explosive success is far from a one-man-show. Sure, he's got talent and drive for days, but what really give him his edge is his collab dream team; London is basically surrounded by people who are, to the creative world, what the cast of The Expendables was to action movies and people who drink Mountain Dew.Theophilus' latest collaboration comes to us in the form of the new video for his dance-rap track, "Love is Real" (featuring Holly Miranda). Theo teamed up with the filmmakers behind the High 5 Collective (the cinematic troupe behind Frank Ocean's most recent video, "Thinking About You", and a whole slew of clips you're probably already seen on Tumblr) for this narrative about a spontaneous first date as imagined by a hip Nicholas Sparks. The visually dazzling clip, overlaid with London's infectious, swagged-out sound and Miranda's smokey-smooth vocals, is so beautiful and well crafted, it almost makes it okay that the video's female lead woke up sprawled out on an observatory overlooking LA with nothing but a bunny mask and a vague memory of meeting a guy on a bus (because, really, who hasn't been there?).Do you believe in a thing called love? Then peep "Love is Real" below!
