Portuguese rapper Criolo proved himself to be Brazilian pop music's Golden Boy securing three trophies at MTV Brazil's 17th VMBs (which stand for "Video Music Brazil" if you use Google Translate or happen to be lysdexic)! Did you even know there was such a thing as the "VMBs"?? Beyoncé wasn't there rubbing all up on her baby belly so no, of course you didn't.Taking home top honors like Best Album (for his 2010 release Nó na Orelha), Best Song for "Não Existe Amor em SP", and an award that Google curiously translates to "Revelation" (which we can only assume is an award granted to the artist that most diligently embodies the lessons imparted by Jesus Christ in the Book of Revelation) (is Jesus in the Book of Revelation?), Criolo's evident mainstream success is a massive leap from the his beginnings in Brazil's hip-hop underground. But we're not too worried about the fame going to Criolo's dome; the rapper continues to return to his roots by financing and hosting the "Rinha dos MCs", Sao Paulo's most infamous freestyle rap tournament. Unlike one junk-in-the-trunked pop diva, Criolo really is still from the block.Listen to Criolo's award-snagging "Não Existe Amor em SP" below, and cop his "Best Album" for free via his website!
