I saw American Hustle the other week and immediately wanted to blow my hair out big, wear silk shirts slashed to the navel, and roll around in a pool filled with sequins and glitter, before heading down to the nearest disco to get sweaty. The girls of the 70s CRUSHED it. The boys—with their oversized collars, nylon shirts and fat, fat ties—not so much. Moullinex's tune "To Be Clear" and its acccompanying colorful video has exactly the same effect on me. It's a spangly, fabulous, irrepressibly groove-heavy cut that manages to sound both Balearic and beachside euphoric, and city street cool.
