Vent a Little Anxiety with The Gradients' "Growing Pile"

Falling in league with their pop-grunge forefathers Archers Of Loaf, "Growing Pile" walks in circles around a contemplative guitar line like a madman pacing round his cell.

Ahead of their debut LP, we've got an exclusive new track from Brooklyn quartet The Gradients. Falling in league with their pop-grunge forefathers Archers Of Loaf, "Growing Pile" walks in circles around a contemplative guitar line like a madman pacing around his cell. Swelling crescendos subside into slightly skewed verses, by the third time around the band is clinging to a fraying thread, attempting to talk themselves down with the reminder, "All you gotta do is sit for a while," as if to calm their own nerves and just "fake a smile." But the track never goes off the rails, but the threat is there, the tension is palpable.
