Listen to San Zhi's New Track "Static Hearts"

The London duo have relocated to the champagne capital of France to record their debut LP and here's their new tune…

At the tail end of 2012 I got pretty excited about boy-girl duo San Zhi and their 80s-leaning, atmospheric pop which came in the shape of debut single "Ice Light." After its release the pair cropped up only a couple of times in 2013—namely on the silky cut "I Love You," alongside tipped newbie Woodkid, and the bootleg chop up of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," courtesy of French electronic duo The Shoes. (Remember when The Shoes got Jake Gyllenhaal to star in an 8-minute short where he went on a hipster murder rampage through East London, set to jittery dance-pop track "Time to Dance"? SO GOOD.)

Finally Peter Howarth-Brown and Suraya—who named their band after this creepily awesome, abandoned, half-constructed resort in Taiwan—have resurfaced. They've swapped London for Reims, France, where they're hunkering down to record their debut LP with one half of The Shoes, Guillaume Briere, at the production helm. Turns out they're also contributing to a couple of tracks on The Shoes forthcoming full length.

Some residents of Reims past and present include Brodinski, Yuksek, the Bewitched Hands, and Monsieur Monsieur. God knows how they get anything done though: as the champagne capital of France the alcoholic fizz over there is cheaper than beer. In any case, new tune "Static Hearts" is a plush slowbuild, layers lightly applied to create a song that's both airily gorgeous and sweetly uplifting.
