Some rap songs just feel right. They're effortlessly badass. You enjoy them because that's the only thing to do. "C World," which rolls forward inevitably at a steady, unperturbed pace, is one such song. You're there with it, and you're in its zone, and, when its author, CUZ (the Little Rock, Arkansas, rapper formerly known as SL Jones) breaks into a chant of "'cause I want to / 'cause I feel like it" toward the end, you're totally on board with that.Continued below.A song like "C World," with the way it seems to always be in forward motion, could run the risk of being plodding and never really getting anywhere, but CUZ moves through enough ideas to make it exciting, More importantly, he offers up clever, head-snapping statements like "told her I'm selling real estate, but she know it's drugs" that keep the track sharp, lively, and, in at least one case, magical. Rap is, among other things, an ongoing competition to find the best drug metaphors, and with the line "Harry Potter wrist whipping up the potion, cuz / C-U-Z got that blue magic, hocus pocus, cuz" CUZ has taken the current lead. You might say he's had a swig of the rap Felix Felicis, for all my real Harry Potter heads out there. Empty out Gringotts and give this man all the gold.
