Kano's "Endz" Exudes the Insight and Experience of an Artist Operating at his Prime

Kano takes stock of life on his latest track "Endz".

A wise man once told me (read: a festive and drunk uncle) that it's important to sit back and take stock: to check back on the things you've achieved, moments you've experienced, where you've come from, and where you're going to. By tying these things together, life is underwritten with a new meaning; you remember who you are, what's important, retain a sense of focus.

On his latest track "Endz", Kano takes stock, as he narrates his journey so far and observes the reality of his life in the East End. ”Three cheers to the pensmith / The game's wide open, I'm dentist / Tryna find space, I'm Tetris / Not tryna lose faith,” he states, later noting: “Heavy is the head that wears the crown". Breathed over a reflective beat, it's a deep, pensive exhale that exudes the insight and experience of an artist operating at his prime, having logged ten years service to the game.

The video, which is directed by Sam Wrench, adds an extra layer to the contemplative, meditative atmosphere of "Endz". Given its name, it's perhaps appropiate the video sees Kano out on his blocks, recording in his flat, and rumating over an undisclosed plate of food in his local greasy spoon cafe.

The track comes from his upcoming album Made In The Manor, which is set to continue the thematics of "Endz" as part love letter to Kano's roots and part intimate portrayal of inner-city living in modern-day Britain. He's already said it's, "the most honest I’ve ever been on an album".
