: Directed and Animated by Eric Leiser.Have you ever had your aura photographed? It's pretty cool. You go into a booth, sit on a chair and place your hands on these metal slabs (at least this is what happened when we went to that place in Chinatown under the subway station a few summers ago), and then you get a little Polaroid where your face and body are largely obscured and blurred by swathes of color. Ours was red. We don't remember what the lady told us that meant at the time but a cursory google suggests this shade means we're "fearless manifestors who enjoy all things physical, from food to clothing, handbags to homes." LOL. Whatever the case, you come out with a sweet snapshot which you can stick on your fridge. All of which is to say Pantaleimon's new video for "Ember" is very much like a moving aura shot. A frequent collaborator of legendary experi-folk crew Current 93, Pantaleimon is a lady called Andria Degens who recently released her fifth record The Butterfly Ate The Pearl, the genesis and recording of which sounds kinda hardcore (understatement alert!).“It was a particularly intense period," she explains. "Going through separation/divorce, building my life back up from zero, and living an almost hermit like existence to do so—the studio environment suited me very well then, like my own little cocoon.”This track is strong with its 70s avant-folk-on-acid vibes. We dig.
