All Hail Psychemagik, the Crown Princes of Retro-Futurist Cosmic Disco

"Mink & Shoes (Dub Version)" is a gooey drip of murky low slung slinky disco and you can hear it exclusive on THUMP

Over the last few years, Psychemagik have become a byword for weirdly delicious, deliciously weird experimentally leaning crate digging escapades into esoteric terrain. Their compilations are far reaching snapshots of world's rarely seen by human eyes; their remix work continues to take the unexpected (Paul Weller, Noel Gallager) into incredibly unexpected realms; their own material is a series of dancefloor ready ruminations on cosmic possibility.

"Mink & Shoes (Dub Version)" is a gooey drip of murky low slung slinky disco — the kind of bleep roller so beloved of Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnson's A Love From Outer Space project. It's a seductively squiggling romp through the outer reaches of the cosmos — sky-crawlingly atmospheric, slow-motion dance floor abstraction for acid heads and space cadets.

Built round an insistently tweaking squelch of a baseline and a ghostly apparition of a vocal, it churns and thuds away, before slamming into fifth and becoming an exhilarating blast into deep, deep, deep disco territory. This is the kind of shit you imagine people thought we'd all be listening to in the future. Retro-futurist cosmic disco: the real sound of 2015 — and Psychemagik are it's pioneers. Check out "Mink & Shoes (Dub Version)" in it's full glory below, exclusively here on THUMP.
