Kove Mixed Us through His History of Drum and Bass

From Sub Focus to Brookes Brothers, Logistics and back again. Get inside the mind of one of MTA's brightest.

MTA Records producer Kove has stamped his mark on the drum and bass scene with a flurry of releases over the past couple years that rove impressively from the deeper, soulful tones of "Night Thought" to the more radio-friendly aesthetic of his more recent "Hurts," ft. Moko.

Kove maintains a wide musical palate, as exemplified by his sterling MIXED BY, so we asked him to walk us down his drum and bass memory lane with a mix.

"My inspiration for this mix was the tunes that really got me into drum and bass when I was younger," he explains. "A lot of these tunes evoke memories of clanging away on vinyl up in my room in Hackney, not being able to wrap my head around counting in sixteens, and that abject fear of some of my first gigs!"

Kove walks us through the mix: "I've started off with "Rock It" by Sub Focus, probably one of the first 174bpm tunes I heard, then progressed with some classics from Hazard, Commix and dBridge, as well as Brookes Brothers who were the first act I ever saw live. Towards the end i've dipped into some more liquid orientated vibes, which are a lot of the tunes that i was listening to around the era that i was making 'Searching' and 'Gone'."
