There's enough gossip going around the world of electronic music that it probably deserves its own TMZ, Gawker, and Perez Hilton. We keep track of the drama, the beef, the LOLs, the dramatic build-ups, and the tragic drops so you don't have to. Now, let's see who killed it this week.
VERY IMPORTANT PSA
Attention every single person on the Internet. That shocking Steve Aoki news post about him "not being an actual DJ" is fake. Maybe some of you know this but you still haven't stopped posting it. You fell for it—admit it. Even after he acknowledged it being fake you are stil putting it up on your timelines. Stop. Read it carefully and remember that he is the most real DJ of our time.
NFL VS MIA
NFL tries to sue MIA for her famous on camera half time flip-off, like, a million years ago. MIA tells NFL to focus on real world issues and get better tape delay. NFL says they will donate the money to charity. MIA calls for people to tell the NFL they suck. This can go on for hours.
MARTIN SOLVEIG DOES GOOD THINGS
People need to do more things like this. That is all.
START THEM YOUNG
We caught this on the cover of the NY Post the other day. Yes this is real. Also is that a Lucky Me sticker we see?
There's this game called Grand Theft Auto—and I guess the fifth one came out this week? Something like that. Anyways lot of dope jams ended up on the GTA V soundtrack—there's a FLyLo radio station as well as one from Gilles Peterson with all sorts of big tunes by Machinedrum, Kingdom, and many more of our favorites. Apparently our boy wasn't able to do a station of his own and is sad about it—sorry HudMo. We know you are too busy with #Yeezus these days.
WORST JOKE EVER MADE
This has stirred up quite the controvery resulting in many twitter attacks and articles about female DJs. While we agree that it was extremely tasteless and they should be ashamed of themselves, we are also mad because they could have done so much better than that. It wasn't even a funny joke. What a waste.
BESIDES… GIRLS RUN THE WORLD
So while Spinnin Records makes bad jokes Annie Mac has returned to the radio after her pregnancy leave, Eclair Fifi's INDJWT show took over the BBC homepage, and Nightwave started a new record label called Heka Trax. So suck it, Spinnin'.
This week Chi-town EDM trio Krewella organized a video shoot in LA for their new video with Headhunterz. They held a march against bullying for the theme of their new song titled "United Kids of the World." Maybe while they are in LA they should stop by the Dim Mak office and have a word with Steve Aoki and tell him to stop bullying dudes in wheelchairs.
THE DRAKE ALBUM LEAKED
Every DJ is happy now. Sampha is on his way to becoming a mainstream radio star and there's a Hudmo track as well. Nothing was the same.
