Retiree Bring New Wave, No Wave, And Waves To The Mysterious "Altruisme" Video

THUMP Premiere of Retiree's "Altruime" video.

Retiree are a modern band for a modern age. Excellent music, and excellent values. Last year the four piece band released their debut EP on Sydney's Plastic World, a perfectly measured mix of summery synth pop and tropical disco. It was called "Together", and it brought unity and feelings of shared happiness to nightclubs and pool parties everywhere. "Altruisme" is their latest single, and another sure sign that Retiree are only looking out for us. The track combines vintage machine drum rhythms, new wave guitar licks, the sounds of the sea, and some haunting French vocals to create a slow funk jam. If "Together" was the sound of last Summer, "Altruisme" brings us Spring. We're pleased to bring you the intriguing new video, and a chat with Retiree ahead of an upcoming tour.

THUMP: There's a sense of intrigue to the song and video, can you offer any hints to the meaning?
Without giving away too much, the track and clip explore the themes of beauty in failure. What that beauty or failure is in the video we'll leave up to the viewer to interpret. We'd also like to thank our friend Lucy Knox for filming/putting up with us before, during and after the clip.

The song is called Altruisme, and you all seem very altruistic. What is the nicest thing you've ever done for someone else without expecting anything in return?
Nice things should always be done without expecting a return. Share your milo & give lifts to hitch-hikers.
