Retiree are a modern band for a modern age. Excellent music, and excellent values. Last year the four piece band released their debut EP on Sydney's Plastic World, a perfectly measured mix of summery synth pop and tropical disco. It was called "Together", and it brought unity and feelings of shared happiness to nightclubs and pool parties everywhere. "Altruisme" is their latest single, and another sure sign that Retiree are only looking out for us. The track combines vintage machine drum rhythms, new wave guitar licks, the sounds of the sea, and some haunting French vocals to create a slow funk jam. If "Together" was the sound of last Summer, "Altruisme" brings us Spring.
