Modest Mouse Dropped a New Song and It's Whatever

Remember this band at all?

Remember Modest Mouse? They released a string of great Northwest indie rock albums in the 1990s, rode the post-Franz Ferdinand wave to success in the 2000s, played the Bait Shop, then released a mediocre album with the guy from the Smiths and disappeared. Well, after years of rumors about a new record possibly produced by Big Boi, they've begun releasing singles for an album due later this month. The new album, Strangers to Ourselves, sounds fine. It's not mind-blowing, but its not awful enough to cause anyone to bitch or moan. "Of Course We Know," which the band released earlier today, is darkly psychedelic and almost spaghetti western at times. It's not the band at its best or at its worst. I'm suspending judgement until I hear the album as a whole.
