Ray-Ban Is Set to Launch Its 75th Anniversary Celebration with Primal Scream and Special Guests

All you have to do is describe a rebellious moment in your life, you coward.

Ray-Ban is one of the most classic and reputable sunglasses brands in the world. Though there’s more to Ray-Ban than making mavericks look good and helping rebels stand out for the last three-quarters of a century, the first Ray-Ban’s were actually pilot gear. Not only were shades this hyper-new, only-worn-by-movie-stars thing, they were also donned by pilots; Another set of people doing seemingly super-human things with the latest technology.

Originally labelled as the "Anti-Glare" sunglasses, in 1937 they were rebranded as Ray-Ban Aviators, in honour of their sunray-blocking properties – proof, if it were needed, that fashion is at its most enduring and iconic when emerging from the functional.

This year, the Never Hide campaign is a celebration of 75 years of Ray-Ban. Seven images set in seven decades show people rebelling or going that one step further. Ray-Ban is about celebrating those people we all want to be, people who never hide their true selves, no matter what.

So, we have two handsomely dressed guys defiantly stepping out onto the street hand-in-hand, despite the shocked and confused stares of passers-by. A couple dancing with an intensity that suggests they've forgotten the rest of the world exists; another couple kissing in the midst of a riot; a girl running through the New York City rain in her underwear. People who aren't afraid to challenge conventional modes of behaviour. To rewrite rules.

This is an anniversary, and like any anniversary worth its salt, there's going to be a huge celebration to mark it. To be a part of it, click through to the Legends section of the Ray-Ban website and describe the most legendary moment of your life thus far by uploading an image or a video. As well as being in with the chance of winning one of 100 pairs of tickets for Ray-Ban's London anniversary celebration – hosted by Primal Scream and special guests at a secret location on the 13th of September – this might just be the kick you need to go out and live that legendary moment.

Go out, do it, tell us about it, celebrate it. Now's not the time to be shy.
