It's pretty tough being middle class, English, white and into 90s rap music. You have to explain to everyone that when you say you like 'rap music' you don't mean you are really diggin' Kanye Cocksuck or whatever other rap singer is storming through the charts that week.

You have to painstakingly explain that you are really down, and have been from day (well, since 2006), with D.I.T.C., Mobb Depp, Gang Starr, Beatnuts, Group Home, Tribe etc (but only ever their first two albums at most, make sure you say that or you could sound totally uncool).

All those cool guys dressed like they were going to go and chop some wood, not like they were off to mince about with fashion designers and go to the premiere of Stuart Little. They all wore Tims, North Face, woolly hats and big jeans. But therein lies the true trauma for white English rap fans, we can't get away with wearing those clothes. Except today, because it's snowing. God, I feel great. If Diamond D bumped into me now, we would totally get on.
