SCANDINAVIA – A LITTLE MORE LOUISE ENHÖRNING

Louise Enh√∂rning is one of our favourite Nordic photographers. She's stood by us since the very launch of our Scandinavian edition and she was one of few girls who shot herself bottomless (meaning minus undies, not like she used a gun to remove her ass) for her Photo Issue nudie self-portrait. She also happens to be a great friend who gives good gifts and clothing advice, and the kind of girl who’ll call you up at on a blah Tuesday afternoon to say, "It’s sunny in the archipelago and I’ve got three bottles of sparkling wine. Do you want to grab a boat and head out to an island?" No wonder her last name means "unicorn" (that’s her real name too). Her photos are usually dreamy and beautiful, like she’s been listening to a lot of British shoegaze but it makes her laugh instead of act like a moody teenager. Here are her three personal favorite photos.

"This photo is from a series that I worked on for many long winter months in Stockholm. This one took ages, because I was waiting for just the right moment. There was a lot of experimentation involved too. All of the photos from this series are made with the same technique; I’m putting the birds back in their true element ‚Äì the sky."

"Irina is an ‚Äòold’ favourite of mine, and at the time when this photo was taken, her career was peaking. Her energy is fantastic and so is her personality, and we made this classical fashion photo together. It was a Saturday in Paris, the sun was shining, and the spirits were high. The kind of day when everything just seems to work out. And I had my favourite team with me."

"This photo makes me happy, and it gives me that sensation, like when you’re travelling and you’re just feeling the freedom of it, and the adventure and excitement and the fact that anything could really happen now. I love that feeling. I took this photo during a Milan-Paris train ride, when I was travelling to shoot for Vice Italy. It will be shown in a future exhibition, and also published in an upcoming book."
