LONDON - WHAT THE FUCK IS UNIVOCITY?

Frederico and Jin are London-based designers from Rome and Korea, respectively. Together they are Komakino, and the married couple make the cheery technicolored dream clothes you can see in these pictures. If designers were bands they'd be Front 242.

This collection was apparently inspired by "totalitarianist [sic] architecture" and was concerned with "the imminent doom of certain flawed systems." Radical, eh? Well, rad at the very least. Check out their models'  flat-tops and moustaches--those are pretty rad.

When I asked Komakino why they liked black, they said they liked the "univocity of black." I looked it up but I couldn't decide if I was stupid or if their "univocity" was bollocks. Maybe wearing black can mean anything, because it is always the same, or maybe it always means the same thing?…Ugh.

Right now Kenneth Anger's Hollywood Babylon, a brochure for Cairo, and the music of Les Joyaux De La Princesse all live together in Komakino's studio.
