AUSTRALIA - POWER VIOLENCE POSEUR DISPOSERS

Septic Surge is the Bastard. Not that you can blame the mother. At 19, in a shitty Sunshine Coast hotel room, it’s easy to confuse a 39-year-old penis for something more. They grew up amid sunshine, Sunday congregations full of tanned people, and condos with 85% occupancy rates. They dealt with it by smoking mad bongs and listening to dark carnage. The result is an electro hardcore punk squall, rough as fuck vocals, and low tuned guitars all blasted through poxy amps in front of 30 crossed-arm cunts. Later they go outside and over turn cars.

Vice: Is the Sunshine Coast ready for a band like Septic Surge?
Surge: The Sunshine Coast will never be ready for anything other then ‚Äòmetalcore’ wankery.

You mean like Carpathian shirts and neck tattoos?
It’s great that this jock culture is known and despised.

You say that the band is "hydro-powered" but then you sing songs like "Faces of Meth".
I’m actually glad that meth came to wash the scum off the streets.

Is meth the drug of choice around the Sunshine Coast?
Yes, but we don’t associate with that form of rubbish.

What exactly is the Sunshine Coast all about?
It’s practically a stretch of cursed land. A fast developing hell hole filled with people following pathetic existences.

OK. You also say power violence is dead but you have a lot of fliers with blown apart heads and songs with movie quote samples.
Real PV died with bands like Man Is the Bastard, Crossed Out, and No Comment. After the first wave of West Coast power violence bands died off, so too did the scene's aggression. We will never be like those bands; we only play the music because we like it.

**Along with the three bands you mention, would you say that with *Spazz* and Capitalist Casualties there were only 5 true power violence bands?**
Spazz and Cap Casualties are definitely great bands that we hail, although they are definitely not as heavy and dark as MITB and Crossed Out.

Who is the best band in Brisbane right now and who is the shittest?
Vomitor is legendary. Obviously there are plenty of shit bands in Brisbane. The shittiest bunch we have played with would have to be Boomgate, who are this street punk band, horrid stuff.
