Woman Wanted in 'Brutal' Calgary Quadruple Murder Case Found

Police believe three out of the four victims were in "the wrong place at the wrong time."

Calgary Police have found the woman they deem to be a suspect in the brutal murder of four people—some of which they say were just in the wrong place.

The quadruple homicide—which has been described as "brutal" by investigators—occurred in early July in the Sage Hill neighbourhood of Calgary. On July 10, police found the bodies of one man, Cody Pfeiffer, 25, and two sisters Glynnis Fox, 36, and Tiffany Ear, 39, in a burned out car. Two days later, the body of Hanock Afowerk, 26, the owner of the car, was found in a ditch on the outskirts of the city.

Police have indicated that Afowerk was the intended victim and the victims found in the car may have just been in "the wrong place at the wrong time."

On Thursday night, Police arrested Yu Chieh Liao, 24, who goes by Diana Liao, in Toronto after requesting the public's help for information of her whereabouts. Liao has yet to be charged in connection to the murders but police have previously said that they believe she played a "significant role." A man Liao was traveling with was arrested on unrelated charges earlier in the week. In a press conference about the murder, Insp. Paul Wozney said that Fox and Ear leave behind multiple children.

"I want to stress the brutality and the ruthlessness of the murders," Wozney said. "Although we are unable to elaborate, all victims suffered significant and traumatic injuries."

Police indicated that they believe that more people than just Liao took part in the crimes and are still investigating.
