The Avalanches Just Announced a New Album

Wow, that really did not feel like sixteen years?

Tony Diblasi and Robbie Chater dropped by FBi radio this week to talk about their upcoming show at VIVID festival in Sydney. While in the studio, the band spoke to Tommy Codling about working with Danny Brown, and writing new music.

They also happened to mention that album number three is more than partially written. Which is… somewhat unexpected. After a very chill, very relaxed sixteen years between albums number one and two, we're now being told to possibly expect number three as early as 2018—a teeny tiny two years later.

"In the few weeks since we've been home from the States, me and Tony have just been writing," they said. "It's flowing so quickly. I think getting Wildflower out of the way and following up Since I Left You feels like a weight's been lifted. The [new] music is really light, it's some of the best stuff we've done. We've got eight songs we're playing to the label. Who knows when [they'll be out]? Next year? It's definitely soon."
