Come Party With Us In Leeds Tonight!

In a little over four hours time, the three-day funfair we've planned to celebrate the launch of our new Photo issue kicks off in earnest. Except it's not really in earnest, it's in Leeds, at Nation of Shopkeepers on Cookridge Street. It's free to get in, and The ABC Club, The Cold One Hundred and Spector are playing live. I went to the effort of seeking out Spector's mercurial frontman Fred Macpherson on BBM and things just escalated from there.

VICE: Hey, are you there?
Fred Macpherson: I am right here. What's cooking?

Wanna do a BBM Q+A 4 2nyts show?
As long as you don't try to conduct da hol ting lyk dis.

Okay. So what's the mood in the camp?
Personal spirits are running high. Liquid spirits are running low. Our tour manager bought me a travel BlackBerry charger. I've got it plugged into the cigarette lighter right now – anything could happen.

It could quite literally all go off.
Fingers crossed.

Would you like to die in a van with the rest of your band and your tour manager?
Our label hasn't insured our lives yet.

Do you think they will?
There's genuinely something in the publishing contract about that. But it says they can't force me to take an HIV test.

Thank God those bad old days are gone. What can your loyal fans expect from tonight's show?
All the old favourites, as filmed by our sponsors: Dell, Intel and Noisey.com (confused? Watch Spector's Noisey documentary here!).

What do you do with all your money?
3D Game Boys and DVDs from Fopp. We're simple men with simple pleasures.

That's boring.
Yeah, sorry. I asked your girlfriend if Windsor Castle has waxworks, by the way – it doesn't.

If you had an indie-rock waxwork museum, who would be in it?
Room 1: 'British Invasion'. Micko Larkin, John Hassall, Andy Burrows, Alfie Holloway, Jay from Frog.

OK.
Room 2: 'Lost Legends'. The Departure and Yes Boss. Wait, Yes Boss weren't really indie-rock, were they? Guess that's the surprise.

They can be the one everyone spits on.
Like how Chris Tarrant's been moved down to the cafe at Madame Tussauds now. A fall from grace.

I don't think the good people of Leeds will be too happy about your denunciation of Yes Boss, two of their prodigal sons.
Then we could be in some trouble.

How can we turn this around?
Black Wire.

Those two words… the key to unlock any dour West Yorkshireman's heart. Thanks, Fred. Hope the show goes great.
Thanks, VICE. Looking forward to reading this one.
