NEW YORK - NEU NEUBAUTEN

Man, what's going on with all the old noise guys? First Throbbing Gristle went all Cabaret, then Skinny Puppy went darkwave or something, then Masonna of all people started a garage band. We just got the new Einsturzende Neubauten album, Alles Wieder Offen, and I guess we're supposed to be all hung up on the fact that they put it out without a record label, but we're a little distracted by just how, I don't know, musical everything on it is. It kind of sounds like 80s-era Leonard Cohen singing along to his drippy faucet in German while someone down the block occasionally pounds on a trashcan for a while. There are a few clangy metal jams, but even they're swamped in moody synth business and non-squealing vocals. Don't get us wrong—it's really good. It's just that we wrote off the possibility of making out to anything Blixa Bargeld was involved with when that older girl with the undersides of her hair shaved got married junior year.

Sorry not much else here. This just put us in a nostalgic mood, so we've been shittin around youtube for the past hour. Here's some things.

Pretty sure this is mislabeled. How cool was Berlin back when it was shitty though? EN doing Lee Hazlewood's "Sand." And old Blixa shilling for some German DIY store.
