LONDON - GRINDIE

A little while ago we heard a re-fix of some Rakes tune featuring Lethal B by some kid called Statik. We laughed it off until we heard Statik's hardcore grime re-fix of Bloc Party and realised both tunes were actually really great.

So, in the ISLANDERS Issue we thought it would be funny if we invented a whole new genre, jokingly dubbed "grindie". We dreamed of an album uniting Wiley and Pete Doherty. Fast-forward two months and Statik has hooked up with Pete and the Test-Icicles and every other indie band in the NME, and mixed them with MCs Scorcher, Jammer and every other MC you read about in RWD. The result is 'Grindie Vol. 1'. We're holding the mix-tape release party tomorrow at the Old Blue Last, so come down and watch a dream literally come to life.

BTW: The party is at 38 Great Eastern Street, not 39 like it says on the flyer.
