Thanks to Mark Hunter's photo blog,The Cobra Snake, kids around the world have had a legitimate reason to spend even more time than they used to agonising over their hair and makeup before they go out at night. Right now Mark is in Australia for RVCA with Mickey Avalon and has been taking hundreds of photos of well dressed party people around Sydney — all of which you can see here here. He has also been taking photos of some of our greatest troopers like Tom Nash here.We have written a lot in the past about how easy DJing is and how anyone with a few CDs and ears can do it, but we never took hands into account. The level of difficulty is clearly waaayyyy higher if you don't have hands but this guy is still pulling it off which should make all other DJs everywhere bow their heads in shame.Vice: Do you get sick of going to parties?
Mark: Yes. When I'm bored I play Texas Holdem poker on my phone. That's how you'll know I'm not happy.Do you ever end up at parties that are so dull it's impossible to get interesting pictures?
Yes. Sometimes I've been, like, requested at a party and I'll walk in and then walk right out again.Where are the best parties?
There are good parties everywhere. It's all about good people with good vibes. Sydney has good vibes. So you started taking pictures and putting them online and now you're famous. What is with that?
It's all based on peoples' vanities. Everyone else promotes my site more than I do. I'll take a photo of a girl and then she might tell 25 people and then they'll tell 25 people and I guess it just snowballs like that really. But there are so many photo sites. Why has your site struck such a chord?
I think with any art if you keep it simple it's good. Even in music. We were just listening to Blur's, Song 2. It only has 10 words and it's just a classic. How many hits do you have on the site?
20,000 unique visits a day.We love our social photographer for the same reason everyone else hates him. He's always in their faces. What's the worst reaction you ever had by someone to taking their photo?
I've been accosted physically. I was in New York for Halloween and there was this guy with blood all over his face and I thought it was the coolest looking costume. It turns out it was real blood and he had just been in a fight so he still had all this built up aggression and he started punching me in the face. Most of the time though people are pretty respectful to me and I am to them. You're doing a book?
Yeah, but I'm just figuring out the best way to present the photos. I started in 2002 so I might do it in volumes starting with the early years. It's hard to do a definitive book right now as I'm still going.
