Game of Thrones fifth season may have already come to another meme-baiting, blood-soaked end, but the talents of its cast stretch way beyond Westeros. This is no more true than of Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor in the series. His DJing career has quickly become the stuff of legend, rivalled only by Breaking Bad's Walt Jr in the unexpected selector from a big-budget television show stakes. Well, Nairn is now taking things a step further, with the release of his first original production.
"Up", featuring vocals from Leanne Robinson, is a deep house sizzler custom built for the unwinding boat parties off the sandy shores of Dorne. The whole thing builds with the pent-up energy of a pre-battle unsullied, before dropping with the weight of Lisa Arryn through a moon door. These references doing it for you at all? Okay, we'll stop.
In all seriousness, while it's pretty straight up pop-focused house, it's impressive to hear that Nairn isn't just capitalising on the popularity of his performance in Game of Thrones, and does in fact seem to have some actual musical ambition. That being said, we still hope he has a sample pad that plays "Hodor" every time he hits it during his sets.
