This gloriously long weekend is one of the busiest in the year for dance music. Over the next few days, THUMP will be at EDC New York, Mysteryland, Lightning in a Bottle, and Movement—covering all the beats and the weirdoes who love them. So check back here, and check back often. In the meantime, here's everything you need to know about the rave hurricane on the horizon:
EDC New York
As David put it, "Being a younger brother ain't easy. This is especially true when your name is EDC New York and your older bro is EDC Las Vegas, one of the biggest music festivals in the entire universe." But EDC New York's 2015 lineup is still massive, following its tradition of bringing a wide variety of sounds to a sea of uncontrollable, libidinal monsters. Look, we picked out which acts you's be stupid to miss. Let's just hope the rain-pocalypse doesn't happen again. But if it does, here are some essential tips for survival. Oh and while you're there, might as well check out the tastiest of whatEast Rutherford, New Jersey has to offer.David Garber will be THUMP's correspondentat EDC New York. Follow him onTwitter
Getting weird is the name of the game at hippie-fest LIB. Jemayel memorably described last year's fest as being as if "the hottest people from Burning Man and the strangest people from Coachella all converged on the moon with the intention of starting a temporary musical space tribe." That weirdo-dance quality runs through this year's lineup, but a responsible ethos does too. So much so that festival lawyer Cameron Bowman will be on-site to discuss what it means to know your rights at music festivals.Jemayel Khawaja will be THUMP's correspondent at Lightning in a Bottle. Movement
Techno Christmas comes early to Detroit with Movement, where the lineup alone stands as testament that Motor City hustles harder. Even the cab drivers here have a genuine, unbridled passion for the music. (The afterparties are pretty swag too. Don't forget to check out Detroit's newest club.) Here's your guide to the festival's most underrated talent, some of whom you can catch on THUMP's stage. And if you see her, don't be shy—give Grandma Techno a big hug.Connie Chan will be THUMP's correspondent at Movement Detroit. Follow her on Twitter
