Sidney Crosby Somehow Managed to Hack Off Part of Marc Methot's Finger

"I've gotten those before," Crosby said. "They don't feel good."

You already know this if you've read the headline, but this isn't going to be a fun one. Last night, during a Penguins vs. Senators game, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby came up on Senators defenseman Marc Methot with a vicious-looking slash to the hand that left Methot slightly less of a man than he was before. That is to say: Crosby took a healthy chunk of Methot's finger off.

It's hard to tell exactly how this happened, at least beyond the Dude Got Whacked With A Hockey Stick element. Methot was clearly wearing gloves, and hockey players get whacked all the time without any appendages being severed. It took an unholy confluence of force, angle of the stick, and pressure points to lop off a part of Methot's digit, but it also took a great deal of bad luck.

If you really want to see what's going down, just take a peek at this (you've been warned):

"I was just trying to get his stick and I think I caught his finger judging by his reaction and their reaction," Crosby said after the game, which the Senators won 2-1. "I've gotten those before. They don't feel good."

No, they almost certainly don't.
